I built it because I kept running into the same problem: a product runs through a strategy, a one-pager, an assumptions list, a decisions log — and they're supposed to tell one story, but they don't stay that way. A decision gets made and the one-pager still says the old thing. An assumption gets proved wrong and the outcomes leaning on it never get revisited. Keeping it all honest is constant manual work, and it's never where your attention is.

It wasn't just me. I interviewed other senior PMs, and the same experience came up again and again — the artifacts drift, the reasoning behind the work gets lost, and the manual upkeep is the first thing to go on a busy day. The problem was real and it was shared.

So I built the tool I wanted: something that reasons across the artifacts and catches what I'd otherwise have to catch by hand.

ProdPilot also reflects how I think about product — that the reasoning behind a decision matters as much as the decision, that assumptions deserve to be tested before they're built on, and that the judgment always stays with the person, not the tool.
